Lowest place first. Every prizegiving anywhere does this, because calling the winner first empties the hall before the rest are handed anything — and within a place, the cup is last, because the cup is the moment.

Perpetual trophies going out today1

Somebody has to record a holder for each of these before it leaves the building.

Still out from previous years2 overdue

A small feature that earns real gratitude: a cup goes home with a winner and reappears three years later, or does not. All it needs is a name, a date and somebody to ask.

Certificates

The placing is text, not a number: a ranked feis prints “First Place”, a band-only festival prints its band, and a dancer who took part gets a certificate saying so rather than one with an empty line where the achievement goes.
