The roster2 posts with nobody on them.
| Post | When | On it | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marshal | 09:00–13:00 | 0 of 1 | Nobody |
| Marshal | 09:00–13:00 | 0 of 1 | Nobody |
| Green room | 09:00–13:00 | 1 of 2 | Short |
The roster editor is not the feature; this is. The failure mode is discovering at 08:30 that nobody is marshalling stage 4, and by then the only fix is to pull somebody off another stage. A volunteer marked absent counts as a gap, because they are not standing there.
Who could cover 09:00–13:00, Marshal
- HereFionnuala ByrneHere, free, and said they would do Marshal.
- HereDearbhla HughesHere, but already on another post at that time.
- No clearanceEoin DuffyHere, but has no current clearance and Marshal needs one.
Only people who are in the building: a name you cannot tap on the shoulder is no use at 08:35. Somebody without a clearance is marked, loudly, and still shown — a role that needs one and has nobody may have to be closed, and the organiser making that call must see every option.
Clearances2 to resolve
- expiredCaoimhe Gallagher is rostered as Green room, which requires a clearance. AccessNI clearance expired on 2026-02-01, 41 days before the event.
- pendingFionnuala Byrne is rostered as Marshal, which requires a clearance. AccessNI clearance applied for and not yet returned.
Status and expiry, never the certificate. A disclosure certificate contains a person’s criminal record, and holding one to answer a yes-or-no question would make the platform the custodian of the most sensitive data a committee ever touches. Only roles that need a clearance are checked — the car park does not, and demanding one anyway teaches people to ignore the list.
A lost childescalate now
Saoirse — reported at 11:20, 16 minutes ago.
What to do next
- now16 minutes since this was reported. Escalate now — venue security, and the police if the procedure says so.
- nowGive the MC the announcement. A hall of four hundred people is the search party.
Designed for someone shaking. The report opens on nothing but who raised it — a volunteer with a crying parent in front of them types a description afterwards, and a form that refuses to open without a surname gets bypassed with a shout across the hall.
The announcement
Would the parent or guardian of Saoirse please come to the registration desk. Saoirse, if you can hear this, please come to the registration desk and a steward will help you.
It says nothing that would help somebody take a child: no surname, no description of the child. It asks the parent to come to the desk, which is what every venue procedure does and the reason it reads oddly at first.
The log
- 11:20 — Reported by her mother at the desk. (Desk)
- 11:22 — Safeguarding officer told. (Desk)
- 11:23 — Search started, coordinated by Bríd. (Organiser)
Every step timestamped by the system, never typed, and append-only. “About twenty past” is what a person remembers; the minute is what a review needs. Access to this record is restricted by event role at the database, and every read is logged.
The photographer’s suppression list3 numbers

no photo, no video, no stream, no vod
115
no stream, no vod
122

This list is correct as of the time printed on it and changes during the day. Check the live list before each competition rather than working from a printout. 1 dancer has no competitor number yet and cannot appear on this list — ask the desk before photographing anybody whose number you cannot see.
Checking a number
- NoNumber 108 must not be photographed.
- ClearNumber 101 is clear as of 2026-03-14T08:35:12Z.
- NoNumber 9999 is not on this event's list. Ask the desk — the likeliest reason is that your list is out of date.
This is the safeguarding control that consent flags alone do not deliver. A consent flag protects a gallery months later; it does nothing about the photographer standing at the front of stage 2 at ten past nine. Absence of consent is suppression, and an unknown number fails closed — the likeliest reason for one is a stale list.
A protest
Máire McTeggart (teacher), 12:14 — “The first dancer started before the music and was not stopped.”
16 minutes left in the protest window.
The evidence pack
302: 18 marks, 0 ops, 2 result versions, 24 audit entries. Generated 2026-03-14T12:40:00Z. Nothing has been selected or omitted — this is everything touching the competition.
- No sync ops: the marks were entered at the desk from paper rather than sent from a device. The paper sheets are the primary record.
- 1 override was applied to this result. Each carries a reason, included above.
- This result has 2 versions. Every one is included, including superseded ones.
Nothing is curated. Everything touching the competition goes in, generated by rule, so that neither side can say the other chose the evidence. The completeness notes are the honest half: a bundle with no sync ops because the marks came from paper is a perfectly good bundle, but it has to say so, or a reader assumes they were lost.
The plan1 to note
| Safeguarding officer | Bríd Ní Chonaill07700 900000 |
| First aid | St John Ambulance |
| Assembly point | The far end of the car park |
No risk assessment is referenced. It may well exist — this only says that nobody has recorded where.
Photography policy
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ACCREDITED PHOTOGRAPHERS ONLY
A reminder that only accredited photographers wearing a pass may take photographs today. Please do not photograph or film from the audience, including on phones. This is a safeguarding requirement. Order prints from the official photographer at the desk.
Signage, announcement and published wording all come from one setting. The failure mode otherwise is a door sign and an MC announcement that say different things, and an audience that believes whichever suits them.
Insurance and licences
- expiredPublic liability insurance expired on 2026-03-01, 13 days before the event.
- unrecordedNo venue_contract record. The committee said this event needs one.
- expiringMusic licence (PRS) expires 19 days after the event (2026-04-02).
Checked against the event date, never today. Public liability insurance that lapses the day before the feis is a committee that cannot open the doors.
What one volunteer sees
Aoife Walsh
- 09:00–13:00 Marshal
Line dancers up in number order at the side of the stage. Do not let anybody dance twice. If a dancer is missing, tell the green room before the competition starts.
Their own two lines, and what those two lines mean. A volunteer handed the whole roster reads none of it.
